Adelaide Royal Show Steer Competition
Kilmainhan has established a partnership with Willunga High School to participate in the schools steer competition at the Adelaide Royal Show.
This year from the impressive line up of over 172 steers this March calf grew to 580 kgs by the Adelaide Royal Show in September putting down an even coverage of fat and the second highest EMA his class. Sired by Willalooka “Zac” he placed second in his class and third overall on the hook.
The other steer was entered in the schools competition and made the export class weighing in at 600kgs with good fat and muscle. He was placed in his class.
Murray Greys were the feature breed at the Adelaide Royal Show in 2008 and to support our breed we entered a senior bull Kilmainhan Bacchus. He had an EMA of 102 cms and before he left for the show weighed over 900 kgs. Bacchus placed third in a competitive class which included interstate exhibitors.
It was also pleasing to see a cow sired by one of the first bulls we bred, Kilmainhan Tipperary place in one of the biggest classes of the show.
